Kenneth Niwamanya, a 24-year-old man, has been remanded to Luzira Prison for allegedly forging the signature of First Lady Janet Museveni.

Niwamanya, a resident of Bulenga in Wakiso District, is accused of creating fake letters bearing the First Lady’s scanned signature to solicit money for the Umoja Youth Initiative Development Uganda, a non-governmental organization he manages.

According to court records, Niwamanya attempted to use the forged documents to secure the First Lady’s patronage for his organization and to raise money for an event at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

Niwamanya, who appeared before Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi on Wednesday, denied the charges.

However, he was unable to secure bail due to a lack of sureties. The court remanded him to Luzira Prison until September 23, pending the completion of police investigations.
