A standoff at Kampala Parents School that led to a sit-down strike by teachers has been resolved following a meeting chaired by Ruparelia Group Chairman Sudhir Ruparelia.

The discussions, which involved the school’s management, teachers, and the parents’ association, addressed key grievances and reached agreements to restore harmony.

The strike, which began last Friday, was fueled by teachers’ demands for better pay, the cessation of illegal salary deductions, and improved working conditions.

In a statement to parents, it was confirmed that teachers would return to work on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, after Sudhir personally intervened and addressed their concerns.

Key resolutions from the meeting included an agreement to enhance teachers’ salaries starting January 2025.

The school also committed to ending illegal salary deductions, a significant victory for the educators.

Additionally, teachers who participated in the strike were assured they would not face suspension or termination.

In a gesture of goodwill, the school agreed to allow staff members to educate one child at the school for a reduced fee of Shs700,000.

Teachers’ representatives expressed their gratitude to parents for their understanding and support during the strike, while also commending Sudhir’s hands-on approach in resolving the matter.

Sudhir instructed the school’s management to prioritize teachers’ welfare moving forward. Parents praised his proactive leadership, noting that the resolution of the impasse paves the way for a more conducive learning environment as pupils complete the third term.
