Police have recovered a gun linked to a series of murders and robberies across the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) area, Busoga East, Busoga North, Elgon region, Ssezibwa, and surrounding areas.

This occurred after security operatives conducted an operation on May 9, 2025, in Kasangati Town Council, Wakiso District, which led to the arrest of Imanantireganya Alfadudu, also known as “Congolese.”

The police preliminary report indicates that the suspect is one of the masterminds behind the robberies and murders.

It is said that during interrogation, Alfadudu disclosed that he and his associates—identified as Mozy, Mapengo, and others—carried out robberies using an SAR rifle.

The police further stated that the suspect revealed that the weapon was typically hidden at the residence of Ivulungo Bumali in Girigiri Village, Maina Parish, Mpungwe Subcounty, Mayuge District, after their criminal activities.

Following this tip, a joint security team proceeded to Mayuge District, where they recovered the SAR rifle.

Additional items seized included two hammers, a knife, and jackets. Ivulungo and his wife were taken into custody to assist with ongoing investigations.

Security’s preliminary findings suggest that the recovered rifle was originally stolen during a robbery in Mukono in October 2024.
