The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has issued a final call to all heads of examination centres in primary and secondary schools across the country to register candidates for the 2025 national exams. These include the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).

According to a press statement from UNEB, the deadline for registration is 31st July 2025, and no extensions will be granted.

Dan  Odongo, the Executive Director of UNEB, urged school heads to use the remaining time wisely to ensure that all eligible learners are registered.

“Heads of centres are advised to make use of the remaining time to register any learners who have not yet been registered, so that no candidate due to sit for this year’s examinations is left out,” Odongo said.

So far, over 1.4 million candidates have been registered—a 6.8% increase compared to last year’s figure. UNEB is now focusing on verifying that all registrations are complete and accurate.

After the registration process closes, schools will be required to display the candidate registers in accessible areas on school premises. This will allow students and parents to confirm that registration was successful and that all submitted information is correct. In addition, UNEB will activate an SMS platform for candidates and guardians to verify registration details remotely.

“No learner who is supposed to sit for this year’s examinations should be left out,” Odongo reiterated.
