Police in Kibaale District have arrested Andrew Ndyayambegye, a resident of Kanoga-Kitooma village in Matale sub-county, who is accused of killing his wife, 47-year-old Beatrace Kaitesi, after a quarrel over a Shs 100,000 loan.

Reports indicate that Kaitesi had allegedly borrowed the money from a local savings group using her husband’s name without informing him.

The disagreement reportedly turned violent when Ndyayambegye attacked her with a hand hoe, striking her multiple times on the head and face.

Neighbours rushed Kaitesi to a nearby clinic, but due to the severity of her injuries, she was referred to Mubende Hospital. She died before reaching the facility.

After the assault, Ndyayambegye allegedly fled, hiding in a nearby bush. Villagers launched a search and later captured him, handing him over to authorities.

Julius Hakiza, spokesperson for the Albertine Region Police, confirmed the arrest, stating that Ndyayambegye is being detained at Kibaale Central Police Station. He will face murder charges in court once investigations are concluded.
