Former Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, who is vying for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) position of 2nd Vice Chairperson (Female), has alleged that the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) elections are being undermined by bribery, intimidation, corruption, and abuse of office.

While addressing delegates at the ongoing conference at Kololo Independence Grounds, Kadaga claimed she had credible information that some delegates were given iPads, phones, and Shs300,000 each. She noted that these incidents occurred in areas such as Nabisunsa, Nakawa, Kisasi, and elsewhere.

Kadaga argued that such actions are intended to influence the outcome of the elections, urging delegates to resist those behind the malpractice. She warned that widespread bribery risks handing over the party to individuals unfit for leadership.

“The money being used is taxpayers’ money, and such leaders must be rejected,” she emphasised.

She further appealed to party leaders and members to reject corruption, bribery, and intimidation, stressing that integrity should guide the election process.

Kadaga is contesting against Speaker Anita Among for the position of NRM’s 2nd Vice Chairperson (Female) on the CEC.
