Police arrest over 100 in Kampala Metropolitan crime crackdown

The Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested 101 suspects in a series of intelligence-led operations conducted between 28 and 29 October 2025, targeting areas notorious for drug abuse, robbery, and theft.

According to police, the operations were part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal networks and restore safety within the metropolitan area.

In Kampala Central Division, 40 suspects were rounded up from known crime hotspots linked to the theft of motor vehicle parts and street robberies.

In Kira Municipality—covering Kitukutwe, Kiwologoma, Kungu, Buwate, and Najjera—police arrested seven suspects found with suspected narcotics and a toy gun believed to have been used in robberies.

In Kajjansi Division, 45 suspects were apprehended from Ngobe, Sseguku, and Kajjansi Town, over alleged involvement in early-morning robberies.

Meanwhile, in Mukono, a joint security operation in Kyugu and Kisenyi–Degeya led to the arrest of nine suspects found in possession of suspected narcotic substances.

Police said all suspects are currently detained at their respective stations pending screening and prosecution.

In a statement, the Kampala Metropolitan Police reaffirmed their commitment to intelligence-driven policing, vowing to sustain operations aimed at dismantling criminal gangs and enhancing public safety across the region.
