The Inspector General of Police, Abbas Byakagaba, has recognised two private security guards in Kazo District for their integrity and bravery after they rejected a bribe linked to a cattle theft incident. Each guard received Shs500,000 for their role in helping police arrest the suspects and recover the stolen animals.

The guards — Paul Okongo and Samuel Lokodo of Eagle Eye Security Agency — were on duty at a farm in Kazo when the thieves attempted to buy their silence. Instead, the pair reported the incident to police, who immediately responded and apprehended the suspects now facing prosecution.

Grace Matsiko, who heads the umbrella body for private security organisations, delivered the cash reward on behalf of the IGP. Matsiko said the police chief praised the guards as patriots whose actions helped protect a community already struggling with livestock theft.

According to Matsiko, the IGP noted that private security companies play a vital role in crime prevention and act as a “force multiplier” for the police. He also commended officers in Kazo for working closely with the security guards, saying such cooperation should be strengthened across the country to support Uganda’s social and economic stability.
