Police in Nateete have detained a 24-year-old woman over the alleged killing of her three-year-old daughter, Neila Ayongeirwe.

The incident happened on Tuesday morning, February 24, at about 5am in Lusaze Zone. At the time, the child’s father, Dickson Bakwatanisa, was not at home.

According to Rachael Kawala of the Kampala Metropolitan Police, preliminary findings suggest the mother attacked the child before attempting to harm herself. She survived and is currently receiving treatment in hospital under police guard.
