Police in Naggalama are holding two suspected bodaboda riders over an alleged aggravated defilement involving two schoolgirls aged 13 and 15.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala identified the suspects as Ali Ssentongo, 27, and Shafik Nsubuga, 25.

According to police, Ssentongo had been hired to transport the two students to and from school every day. On February 24, he allegedly diverted from the usual route and took the girls to his home in Kasawo, Mukono District.

Police say the 13-year-old was allegedly assaulted there. It is further alleged that Ssentongo later called Nsubuga, who is also accused of assaulting the 15-year-old.

Both suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.

Kawala urged parents and guardians to be cautious when entrusting their children to strangers and to closely monitor their movements.

“Our appeal to parents is not to over-trust strangers with your children. Always keep a close eye on them, especially when using bodaboda riders for school transport,” she said.

Police have asked anyone with helpful information.
