Police in Gulu are investigating the death of a 52-year-old businesswoman, Claire Nambooze, who was found dead at her home on Sunday, March 1.

According to Aswa West regional police spokesperson David Ongom Mudong, the incident was reported by her husband, Christopher Oola, to Gulu Central Police Station.

Nambooze ran a small breakfast stall in her neighbourhood in Vanguard Cell, Laroo-Pece Division. On the day of her death, she had reportedly left someone in charge of the business and returned home.

Her body was later discovered at around 4:00 pm.

Family members told police that she had recently been struggling with financial pressure linked to a loan of about Shs6 million borrowed from four different lending institutions.

Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding her death.
