Police in the North Kyoga region have detained a senior investigations officer from Kole District over allegations of attempting to sexually assault a 19-year-old student.
The suspect, identified as Dickens Louis Ebong, who serves as OC CID in Kole, is accused of luring the student from Akalo Comprehensive Secondary School to his residence at the police barracks under the guise of giving her a book.
According to regional police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema, the officer allegedly locked the victim inside the house and attempted to assault her. It is further claimed he hid her under a bed before she was eventually rescued.
The incident was reported by the victim’s father, Bennie Olila, prompting immediate police action.
Authorities say the suspect is now in custody and has been formally charged. A medical examination was conducted at Aboke Health Centre IV, with the report forwarded to investigators in Lira to support the case.
Police have confirmed that inquiries are ongoing, including detailed review of medical findings, further questioning of the suspect, and verification of key details as the case progresses.
