Police in Old Kampala have arrested eight suspects, including four men allegedly captured in a viral social media video in which a group is seen boasting about attacking members of the public.

The video, which has circulated widely on social media, shows about six individuals allegedly praising themselves for carrying out violent attacks. They reportedly claim to have assaulted several people, leaving some with broken jaws and teeth.

The individuals in the video also allegedly demand a share of the money earned by dentists treating victims of their attacks and threaten to target medical practitioners who refuse to comply.

Following investigations into the video, police on 8 September 2026 conducted an intelligence-led operation at Gojo Gym in Namungona, Lubya Parish, Rubaga Division, Kampala District.

Eight suspects were arrested during the operation, with four of them allegedly identified as individuals appearing in the viral video.

The suspects are Matiti Mohammed, also known as Beast-Commander; Nurudin Kasule, alias 2 I/C; Umar Mubiru; Lukooya Adams; Kiyimba Martin; Alinda Yosam Junior; Walumu James; and Elvis Simanya.

According to preliminary investigations, the gym was allegedly being used as a meeting point by the suspects under the guise of boxing training.

Police suspect that some of those arrested could be linked to a range of violent criminal activities, including robberies, housebreaking, theft, phone snatching, the use of deadly weapons and unlawful possession of narcotic substances.

The last four suspects were reportedly found at the gym during the operation, with some allegedly found in possession of suspected narcotic substances.

All eight suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue ahead of court proceedings.

Police are also working to identify and arrest other individuals seen in the viral video and establish their possible involvement in the alleged attacks and other criminal activities.

The public has been urged to provide any information that could help investigators identify additional suspects or victims linked to the incidents.
