A total of 30 vehicles have been impounded during joint operations in and around Kampala.

The operations are being conducted by the UPDF Military Police Brigade in coordination with the Uganda Traffic Police across the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area and other parts of the country.

According to Army spokesperson Chris Magezi, the operations are targeting vehicles without number plates, unregistered vehicles and those being driven without valid licences.

Security forces are also targeting vehicles with covered number plates, including those belonging to security personnel and government ministries, departments and agencies.

Magezi said drivers found violating traffic regulations will be arrested and prosecuted in court.

Security personnel who fail to comply with traffic regulations, including driving without valid driving permits or licences, will also be arrested.

The operations will further target civilian vehicles found carrying military stores, such as military jackets, whether the items are displayed on the driver’s seat or kept elsewhere in the vehicle.

Magezi said such vehicles will be impounded, while the drivers or owners will be arrested and taken before a court martial.
