Comedian Yokaana Mbuuse, popularly known as Kapere Lufotose, has died at a medical facility in Buddo.
Details surrounding his death, including the cause, had not been established by the time of publication.
Kapere rose to fame as a member of the Amarula Family, a comedy group led by comedian Amooti Omubalanguzi. He performed alongside Amooti, Messe Bontwe and other entertainers in live comedy shows and television productions.
His entry into comedy was largely unexpected. He was reportedly introduced to Amooti by a stranger who noticed his distinctive appearance and encouraged him to pursue comedy. He later joined the Amarula Family, where he built his career through performances and comedy skits.
One of his earliest popular skits, titled Lufotoose, helped establish his identity in Uganda’s entertainment industry.
Kapere became widely recognised for his distinctive facial appearance, humorous expressions, unusual dancing style and memorable comedy sounds. He turned his unique stage presence into his trademark, winning audiences through short performances and video clips that also gained popularity on social media.
Beyond comedy, Kapere featured in music videos, including Bobi Wine’s Mr. Money, in which he portrayed a wealthy man attempting to win a woman’s affection through money and material possessions.
Kapere was married to Lydia Nakandi, popularly known as Mama Trump.
