Footage of the Nakawa train accident which happened over the weekend has made its way online.
On Sunday morning, two people were confirmed dead following an accident involving a vehicle REG No. UBJ 053N was crashed by a train at the railway level crossing in Nakawa Division, Kampala.
The deceased are Norbert Tizikara,32, an Architect with the Uganda Police Construction Unit, and Caroline Aturinda. She was waiting for her graduation on July 22, 2022, with a Diploma in Law from the Law Development center.
According to John Linonn Sengendo, the Uganda Railways Corporation Communications Spokesperson, the accident occurred at 3.30 am when their locomotive returned from Namanve after delivering goods to clients.
The video shows that the train had beaming lights as it approached the crossing level.
However, Ugandans on social media have urged the ministry of transport to put up installations to create more awareness.
