Despite  bowing out of the CHAN 2018 competition, Uganda Cranes will have a reason to fight for today’s last group game against  Cote D’ Ivoire. A win for the cranes in the game will see the team finish third in Group B hence scooping Shs720million (US$200,000) in prize money.

With Cranes losing the first two games by 3-1 and 1-0 to Zambia and Namibia respectively, Coach Sébastien Desabre yesterday  tasked the boys to finish the competition with respect.

“The game against Cote D’Ivoire is not a friendly match. We need every player to give in 100 percent commitment to make sure Uganda finishes third in the group. The evaluation of players continues and with the football exhibited in the first two matches, this will be a good stepping stone to continue with the team. We are demanding the same positive energy from the players like in the earlier two games at CHAN 2018 as we finish up the group games on Monday,”Desabre stated.

In the same group, Zambia will play Namibia in an anticipated tight battle that will decide who tops the group.
