Uganda Rugby Cranes travelled to Nairobi yesterday on a revenge mission against Kenya Simbas. The 23-man squad that was named to don the Cranes jersey will be itching to respond to Kenya after losing to the same opponents in the first leg of the Elgon Cup.

However, this fixture also being Rugby Cranes’ second game in  the race for the Rugby Africa Gold Cup in addition to being a World Cup qualifier, the boys must bring their A game if they are to get a reasonable result against their archrivals.

Head coach John Duncan is positive his boys will respond following the intense preparation and lessons learnt from the humiliating loss against Namibia last month. “The result we got against Namibia was really disappointing, but we have managed to recover from that with lots of lessons learnt.

“We have been putting lots of physical training at high intensity because we need a good result in Kenya. It’s going to be a tough game, but not impossible to get the desired result,” Duncan said.

Another positive ahead of the game is that former Cranes vice captain Michael Wokorach is back on the team for the first time this campaign. Wokorach had fallen out with the coaching staff after he was relieved his captaincy duties at the start of this season. Also returning are Philip Wokorach, Ivan Magomu, Martial Chumkam, Ronald Musajjagulanyago and Marvin Odong.
