Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has reportedly decided to part ways with Uganda Cranes Head Coach Johnathan McKinstry.

According to our sources this was agreed in a meeting that was attended by FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo, UFA CEO, Edgar Watson and McKinstry.

However, FUFA is yet to come out with an official statement but soon it will confirm.

The sacking of the Irishman will come at a huge cost as its reported that he has been getting $15,000 (Shs55m) as his monthly salary which means with about 17 months left on his contract, FUFA will have to pay US$255,000 (Shs943m) as compensation.

In March, FUFA suspended McKinstry from his duties for the period of about a month (March 2- March 31 2021) giving opportunity to Assistant Coaches Mubiru Abdallah, Mbabazi Livingstone and goalkeeping coach Kajoba Fred to take charge of the team.

The group failed to get the needed points from the two AFCON qualifiers games against Burkina Faso and Malawi to secure Cranes’ third consecutive qualification to the AFCON finals.

Northern Irish born coach took over as Uganda Cranes head coach from French man Sebastein Desabre in September 30 2019. The 35-yearold guided Uganda to the 2019 CECAFA Cup title, winning all 6 games throughout the tournament.
