Besides Peruth Chemutai, Rob Walker, the Olympics commentator is another person Ugandans have been applauding for his outstanding commentary when Chemutai won a gold medal in 3000m steeplechase final.

Walker phrase that “Uganda one of the friendliest, most beautiful countries you can ever wish to visit,” melted millions of hearts in Uganda, a statement that many say made them feel proud of being Ugandans.

Ahead of today’s men’s 5000m final where Uganda has triple representation (Joshua Cheptegei, Jacob Kiplimo and Oscar Chelimo), Walker has confirmed to be on set of the commentators as he appreciated the overwhelming lovely messages he has been receiving from Uganda.

Thanks to everyone in Uganda who has tweeted me about the commentary here in Tokyo. I’ve been inundated with messages. I’m commentating on the race live tonight. I’m sure Cheptegei, Kiplimo & Chelimo will do you all proud. Watch out for Katir though – he’s had a great season. ?? https://t.co/Ij5RuzJ7qy
