2022 World Cup Qualifiers: Big surprises as Micho names 32-man squad ahead of double-header against Rwanda

Uganda Cranes Head Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has named a 32-man squad for the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers double-header against rivals Rwanda.

There are a few surprises in the squad as a couple of new faces, Julius Poloto, Wafula Innocent, Najib Fesali, Mulondo Livingstone, Wasswa Geofrey, Kakooza Mahad, Mato Rogers, Kizza Martin, Lwanga Charles, Sadat Anaku, Rwothomio Cromwell, and Stephen Mukwala all made the cut.

Big old guns like captain Emmanuel Okwi, Murushid Jjuuko, Farouk Miya, Ronald Mukiibi, Kizito Luwagga, Derrick Nsibambi all missed out.

Okwi and Miya are out as the duo is attached to no club yet, Jjuuko is suspended after getting a red card against Mali, Mukiibi is injured while Nsibambi has just gotten signed to a new club in Ethiopia.

Foreign-based players are expected to join the team on Monday before the team travels to Kigali for the first leg of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Qualifiers.
