Kenya Day Golf Tournament: Tusker Malt joins the celebration

The 2021 Kenya Day Golf Tournament slated for Friday, December 10 at Uganda Golf Club’s (UGC) par-72 course in Kitante, Kampala will be the key event to celebrate this year’s Jamhuri Day (Kenya Independence Day).

The Kenya Week 2021, a series of activities that will culminate into the Jamhuri Day reception was officially launched on Monday, 6th December at UGC’s terrace, the same venue that will host the Kenya Day Golf Tournament’s 19th hole experience.

“The tournament brings together key leaders in government, the diplomatic community, the business community, and other golf enthusiasts,” Deputy Head of Mission at the Kenya High Commission in Uganda Amb. Kennedy Mokaya said at the launch adding that about 150 golfers will grace the event.

“The event is not only a celebration of Kenya’s Independence – but it’s also an appreciation of the political, economic, sports, and cultural ties of the people of East Africa as well as the resilience of business. Indeed the event is a platform to bond, appreciate and learn from each other’s strengths,” he added.

The tournament which is held annually at UGC has received a huge partnership boost as lots of companies, both Kenyan and non-Kenyan have gotten on board to ensure that the event is successful.

Fresh from sponsoring the three-week-long 2021 Uganda Golf Open that ended over the weekend at Entebbe Club, Uganda Breweries Limited through the Tusker Malt Lager brand are on board for the Kenya Day do as well.

“We are glad to be in this engagement as well as we celebrate together with our neighbors,” Tusker Malt’s representative at the launch Judy Nandekya said adding that; “we also take this opportunity to once again congratulate Justus Madoya (Kenyan golfer) for winning the Uganda Professional Golf Open over the weekend.”

The tournament partners are; KCB Bank (66M), Uganda Breweries Limited (Tusker Malt Lager), Equity Bank, NCBA Bank (10M), UAP Old Mutual, Kenya Airways, Serena Hotels, Chloride Exide batteries, Horial Investments Holdings Co. LTD, Kenya Ports Authority, and Crown Beverages LTD (Pepsi).

Jamhuri Day (Republic Day) is a national holiday in Kenya, celebrated on 12 December each year. Jamhuri is the Swahili word for “republic” and the holiday is meant to officially mark the date when Kenya became a republic on 12 December 1964, one year and six months after gaining internal self-rule on 1 June 1963 from the United Kingdom.
