Uganda Cranes defender Bevis Mugabi signs new two-year deal with Scottish side Motherwell

Uganda Cranes defender Bevis Mugabi has signed a new contract with Scottish side Motherwell ending speculation that he could leave the club.

Mugabi, 26, put pen to paper on a new two-year deal that runs until 2024.

The Uganda Cranes international has made 62 appearances for Motherwell since signing from Yeovil Town in 2019, scoring four goals.

“We’re delighted that Bevis has committed himself to us for the next two seasons,” Motherwell boss Graham Alexander said.

“He’s been a constant in our team, and even though we have seen a great improvement from him over the last 12 months, we still believe there’s more to come from him.

“He’s a great character to have at our club and he wants to win,” he added.

Mugabi first joined Motherwell in September 2019, initially on a short-term deal.

Establishing himself as a key figure, he has since gone on make 62 appearances and become a regular at the international level. He has so far made 10 caps at the national team.
