The South African female referee, Akhona Makalima, is causing a frenzy on social media because of her beauty and sense of style when off duty. Various memes have been created.

The 33-year-old is one of the 16 referees at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Akhona Makalima officiates for FIFA, the South African Premier Soccer League, the SASOL Women’s League, and the South African Football Association (SAFA).

Makalima, who holds a diploma in Human Resources and is a radio sports host, started refereeing in the SAFA local football associations structure in 2011 and got her big break to officiate in the PSL in 2014.

She was born in Nqamakwe in the Eastern Cape, and football has taken her to virtually every corner of the world.

She was the only female center referee for the AFCON U20 in Mauritania.
