At a young age, Lwanga was a member of Ndejje United F.C in the second division before engaging in the Buganda Masaza cup for Kyadondo.

In January 2014, Lwanga joined Express FC, spending just one season. In 2015, he joined SC Villa before sealing a two-year deal with Vipers SC in 2017.

His impressive form at Vipers saw him named in the 2019 Uganda Cranes AFCON squad. In August 2019, Lwanga joined the Egyptian Premier League side Tanta SC. On December 2, 2020, Lwanga joined Simba SC on a 2-year contract deal.
