Uganda Cranes will be in action this evening against neighbours Tanzania.

The Cranes, who have gathered just one point from two games are well aware that the doubleheader against Taifa Stars of Tanzania provides a chance to get the qualification campaign back on the rails.

This will be the 62nd time Uganda and Tanzania meet in men’s international football. Uganda has won a record 32 of the previous 61 meetings, drawing 16 and losing just 13 in the process.

“We have done so much behind the scenes for close to nine months to make sure we get good results against Tanzania,” said Coach Milutin Sredojevic.

He added, “I believe that we are mentally ready, physically fit, technically effective and tactically aware. Playing in a derby means you must be at your best because such games are determined by small margins.”

In AFCON campaigns, Uganda and Tanzania have faced each other 10 times. Uganda edges with four wins against Tanzania’s three and three draws.

After this game, Tanzania and Uganda will face off again four days later at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Algeria leads the group with nine points, Niger has two points while Uganda and Tanzania have a point each.
