Uganda Women’s National Netball team, the She Cranes, is gearing up for a crucial clash with Jamaica in the preliminary stage two of the 2023 Netball World Cup in South Africa.

After securing two wins and finishing second in Group D, the She Cranes find themselves in a new group alongside Jamaica, South Africa, Wales, New Zealand, and Trinidad & Tobago. Although they won’t face their former group D opponents, New Zealand and Trinidad & Tobago, the She Cranes have a challenging road ahead.

This evening, they face a formidable opponent in Jamaica, ranked fourth in the world. Jamaica is determined to clinch their first Netball World Cup title after finishing third on three occasions. Their impressive performance in the ongoing World Cup, topping Group C with three consecutive wins, makes them a formidable force.

The She Cranes understand the magnitude of the task at hand, especially considering Jamaica’s recent history of dominance over them, as evidenced by their 57-39 defeat in the 2019 Netball World Cup in Liverpool.

Ranked eighth in the world, the She Cranes have their sights set on surpassing their past achievements and progressing beyond the group stages. With a tough lineup ahead, including Wales and hosts South Africa, the team’s determination seems to be stronger than ever.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals, and the She Cranes will be fighting to claim one of those spots.
