“Each and everything I am doing right now, I am doing for my country. My dream has always been to inspire upcoming golfers. I would feel really great if, in the next few years, I see more Ugandans and East Africans playing in big tours and doing even better than I’m doing,” said Rugumayo after achieving the historic cut.

Ranked 2,901st in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), Rugumayo also became the first Ugandan to nail a hole-in-one in the DP World Tour last season.

Meanwhile, Rugumayo was in Kenya as part of a team of 10 golfers sponsored by Absa Bank Uganda to participate in the tournament.
