Nigerian singer Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, popularly known as Mr. Eazi, has revealed that he will be providing a financial boost to Ugandan boxing and sports at large.

Mr. Eazi will be supporting and investing in Ugandan boxing through his emPawa Africa initiative, a talent incubation program designed to nurture and support up-and-coming talents.

The singer is on a courtesy visit hosted by Chop Gaming, a company that oversees BetPawa in Uganda. He has already gotten in touch with Zebra Ssenyange Jr., one of Uganda’s promising talents in boxing. Isaac “Zebra” Ssenyange Jr. is the son of Ugandan boxing legend Zebra Ssenyange, who was murdered in December 2020.

According to Mr. Eazi, Zebra caught his attention after he watched his videos on YouTube and realized he was talented and needed support.

“I love the transformational nature of sport and how it changes the destiny of many. Sports is entertainment and I’m obsessed with entertainment, so right now my investment is in sports and music. When you are making money from sports, why not invest in sports? That is why I’m focused on investing in underdogs (grassroots) so that they can become superstars,” said Mr. Eazi while appearing on NBS Sport.

Mr. Eazi will not only be supporting Zebra Ssenyange Jr., but he also has plans to financially boost the Zebra Boxing Club, starting with the refurbishment of their boxing facility.

“My plan is to support Zebra Ssenyange Jr. He is a man that already has a vision. My CEO sent me his profile, and I was inspired, and we shall give him all the support he needs. I’m more concerned with grassroots sports, where I can nurture young talent to see their dreams come true. There’s no lack of talent in Africa, there’s a lack of investment,” he said.

This is not the first time Mr. Eazi has rendered his support to the sport of boxing. He has previously extended support to similar initiatives in Accra, Ghana, and Cameroon.
