Ugandan clubs Kitara FC and Sports Club Villa are set to face crucial continental football matches this weekend. Both teams are seeking to overcome losses in their first-leg qualifiers for the CAF Confederations Cup and CAF Champions League, respectively.

Kitara FC, making their continental debut, must reverse a 2-3 deficit against Libya’s Al Hilal Benghazi in the second leg on Friday at 8 pm.

The match will be played at the same stadium where they lost the first leg. To advance, Kitara needs a collective effort from their players, with star player Denis Omedi expected to play a key role.

Reigning Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa also face a daunting task after losing 1-2 to Ethiopian side CBE in the first leg.

Villa must win by two goals in the second leg on Saturday at 3 pm to progress. Notably, it has been 20 years since Villa last won a continental match away from home, when they defeated AS Aviacao 1-0 in Luanda.

Coach Morley Byekwaso’s team will need to draw on this history to secure a crucial victory in Ethiopia.
