The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania as the joint hosts of the 2025 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

The announcement was made by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe during his recent visit to Kenya.

Speaking at the CAF Executive Committee meeting held at the Villa Rosa Kempinski in Nairobi, Dr. Motsepe expressed his admiration for the development of football facilities in the East African region. He said the tournament will serve as a preparation event for the 2027 AFCON, as the three nations have been announced as the hosts of Africa’s most prestigious event.

The 2025 CHAN tournament is scheduled to take place from February 1-28, 2025, with qualifiers set to begin in October.

With the three host nations already confirmed, the remaining 13 spots will be fiercely contested in the upcoming qualifiers.

Last year, CAF announced a 60 percent increase in the prize money for the CHAN finals held in Algeria, which was won by Senegal. The winner takes home $2 million (about Shs7.4 billion).
