The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially nominated the Uganda Cranes for the prestigious 2024 CAF National Team of the Year Award, recognizing their good performances in recent competitions. This announcement was made public via a post by CAF on Thursday through X (formerly Twitter).
The Uganda Cranes will be competing against other top-performing African national teams, including Angola, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, DR Congo, Morocco, Mozambique, South Africa, and Sudan.
Each of these nations has demonstrated exceptional skill and achievement in recent continental and international fixtures, making the competition for this award particularly fierce.
The winners of the coveted CAF Awards will be revealed on December 16, 2024, during a grand ceremony in the vibrant city of Marrakech, Morocco. This is the third consecutive year that Morocco will host the event.
The CAF Awards celebrate excellence across various football categories, from national team accomplishments to individual brilliance. Topping the list is the CAF African Player of the Year award, which will see outstanding footballers across the continent recognized for their contributions. This year’s nominations are star-studded, featuring players like Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain), Burkina Faso’s Edmond Tapsoba (Bayer Leverkusen), and Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman (Atalanta).
In addition to these individual honors, the event will also highlight top performances in other categories such as Goalkeeper of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Club of the Year, showcasing the best of African football from grassroots to elite competitions.
Notably, the Uganda Cranes’ nomination for National Team of the Year shines a spotlight on their progress over the past year.
As the countdown to the CAF Awards begins, anticipation is building among football fans eager to see who will take home the prestigious titles.
