The Equity NARO Open has become a landmark event for the MaryLouise Simkins Memorial Golf Club, which is located at the National Agriculture Research Organization (NARO) in Namulonge.

Anthony Kituuka, Managing Director of Equity Bank Uganda, highlighted the bank’s commitment to promoting golf and nurturing emerging talent in the sport.

“Equity has a longstanding commitment to supporting golf, and we’re excited to continue fostering the growth of this sport in Uganda,” said Kituuka. “We’re especially focused on encouraging amateurs to join and learn, as we work together to expand this thriving golf community.”

Brian Aldomoro, Chairman of the Namulonge Club, expressed gratitude to Equity Bank for its role in enhancing the golfer experience.

“Golf isn’t just about the game; it’s also about the experience on the course,” Aldomoro explained.

“With well-maintained fairways, greens, and relaxing spaces, we offer a better experience, which ultimately attracts more players. This partnership with Equity Bank benefits both the club and the bank, as it helps grow the golfing community in Uganda.”

The Equity NARO Golf Open is an annual event that attracts over 150 golfers from across the country, including professionals, amateurs, and subsidiary players.

Last year’s event saw Dominic Musoke emerge as the overall winner, while Richard Baguma claimed the title in the Professionals category.

This year, both seasoned golfers and newcomers are looking forward to an exciting tournament that continues to strengthen Uganda’s golfing community.
