Namboole Stadium is undergoing a major transformation as its playing surface is upgraded to a state-of-the-art hybrid grass pitch. This advanced surface combines 95% natural grass with 5% synthetic fibers, stitched into the ground using computerized technology to enhance the pitch’s stability, durability, and performance.
The renovation aims to provide a top-tier playing surface in preparation for the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 tournament, which Uganda will co-host with Kenya and Tanzania from 1st February 2025.
In a critical step toward readiness, a team from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), led by Ismail Wally from the CAF Competitions Department, is in Uganda to conduct a final inspection of key facilities. These include the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, and training grounds at KISU, Kadiba, and Wankulukuku.
As the countdown to CHAN 2024 continues, Uganda is positioning itself to deliver a classy football event for the continent.
