Brian Toolit, a former professional golfer and coach who passed away in March this year at the age of 37 after a battle with cancer, will be honored with a memorial golf tournament.

The event will be held over two days, Tuesday 29th July and Wednesday 30th July, at Uganda Golf Club in Kitante, Kampala, and will feature both amateur and professional players.

To honor his memory, his cousin Conrad Acaye, together with Ian Odokonyero, will be playing in the two-day tournament alongside members of the Uganda Professional Golfers Association (UPGA), where he was a member, fellow golfers, and friends.

About Brian Toolit

Born on August 8, 1987, in Gulu District to Christopher Ojok and Connie Lajara, Brian Toolit was a multi-talented athlete with early prowess in swimming and tennis. However, it was in golf that he found his true calling. His breakthrough came in 2000 at the age of 13 when he competed in the inaugural Lugazi Open, sharing the course with young talents like Denis Anguyo, Shaban Lwanga, and David Okullo. His performance in the 36-hole competition signaled the rise of a future golfing star.

Toolit became renowned for his powerful iron play and exceptional distance off the tee. Yet, his most significant strength lay in his ability to pass on knowledge. More than just a player, he was an outstanding trainer who communicated effectively, kept his students engaged, and nurtured talent with patience and skill.
