It was a tough night for Ugandan football fans as the Cranes suffered a 3-0 defeat to Algeria, becoming the only co-host nation to lose their opening match at CHAN 2024. Meanwhile, fellow co-hosts Kenya and Tanzania kicked off their campaigns on a high, securing victories in their respective matches.

The Cranes still have a mountain to climb, with upcoming group-stage clashes against Guinea, Niger, and South Africa.

But if there’s one thing Ugandans have truly mastered — it’s the art of turning heartbreak into humour.
