Fans wearing T-shirts with offensive or provocative messages to be denied entry into Namboole

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) has issued a stern warning to fans ahead of Uganda’s crunch quarterfinal against Senegal this Saturday, August 23.

According to the committee, spectators who turn up at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, wearing T-shirts or jerseys with offensive or provocative messages will be denied entry.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Uganda Media Centre, Diana Nabuuso, a member of the LOC, said such attire not only undermines the spirit of the tournament but also tarnishes Uganda’s image on the continental stage.

“Those who come with offensive prints on their T-shirts will not be allowed to enter the stadium. This measure is to ensure peace, discipline, and a positive image during the match,” Nabuuso stressed.

The move comes as organisers tighten stadium regulations ahead of the highly anticipated encounter. Officials emphasised that while passion and creativity are welcome, inflammatory slogans and abusive messages will not be tolerated.

Uganda takes on Senegal at 5 p.m. in what will be the only fixture of the day, with the Cranes chasing a historic semi-final spot.
