Two of Uganda’s brightest football prospects, James Bogere and Hamza Ssengooba, have officially joined Danish top-flight side Aarhus GF (AGF).

The pair will link up with the club’s U19 team ahead of the February preseason, giving them a major opportunity to develop in one of Europe’s most competitive youth systems.

Aarhus are currently enjoying an excellent run in the Danish Superliga, sitting top of the table with 40 points, four clear of rivals Midtjylland.

Bogere, one of Uganda’s most talked-about rising stars, expressed gratitude to his academy for guiding his growth.

“El Cambio has done a lot for me as a player,” he said after completing his move.

His transfer comes at a perfect moment. Over the weekend, Bogere received a call-up to the Uganda Cranes’ provisional squad for the 2025 AFCON, a reward for his standout displays at the U17 FIFA World Cup, where he impressed as part of the Uganda Cubs.

Even before the World Cup, Bogere had already proven himself. During the 2025 AFCON U17 Qualifiers (CECAFA Zone), he finished as top scorer with seven goals. His brilliant brace against Gambia in the playoffs secured Uganda’s place at the tournament.

El Cambio Academy founder Thomas Thor praised the young forward’s potential:

“James Bogere is ready to play for the Uganda Cranes.”
