Jinja City came alive with Premier League excitement on Saturday, December 20th, as football fans turned out in large numbers for the Guinness Matchday On Tour at Ruck Yard Sports Club.

The iconic Guinness Matchday Truck transformed the venue into a dedicated football hub, complete with a large high-definition screen that delivered live Premier League action throughout the day and into the night.

Supporters followed a packed lineup of fixtures, starting with Newcastle United facing Chelsea in the early kickoff. The excitement continued with Manchester City’s clash against West Ham United, a match that carried significant weight in the ongoing title race as the season intensifies.

The evening culminated in the highly anticipated encounter between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, which drew the biggest crowd reactions of the day. Second-half goals by Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike helped Arne Slot’s Liverpool to a third consecutive victory with a dramatic 2-1 win, somehow surviving nine-man Tottenham in a chaotic finale which saw Richarlison pull one back.

Speaking after the event, Mercy Atwongyeire, Project Manager for Premium Beer at Uganda Breweries Limited, said the Jinja activation showcased Guinness’ commitment to enhancing football experiences for fans across the country.

“As the official beer partner of the Premier League, Guinness is proud to continue bringing matchday experiences closer to fans in different parts of the country,” Atwongyeire said. “As we close the year, we also wish all our consumers a happy festive holiday season filled with great football moments and memorable celebrations with friends and family.”

The Guinness Matchday On Tour will continue throughout the season.
