A team of technical experts from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has inspected Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, and training facilities at FUFA Kadiba Stadium, Kyambogo University and Makerere University as part of preparations for the 2027 AFCON tournament.
The CAF delegation is assessing stadiums, training grounds, safety systems and overall infrastructure to determine whether Uganda meets the required standards to host matches during the continental competition, which will be jointly organised by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

The team is expected to conclude its inspections at Hoima City Stadium.
CAF wants the 2027 tournament to meet international standards both on and off the pitch.

On Friday, CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe confirmed that the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to run from 19 June to 18 July 2027, will go ahead as planned. He made the remarks while addressing the media in Tanzania.
Motsepe said discussions are still ongoing among Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania on the venue for the opening match.
He added that the tournament will also help identify and develop young football talent in East Africa.
