After all the heroics, Onyango’s big break to the creme dela creme of football’s greatest leagues is now.

Unlike field players that have their career prime commonly between 25 to 29, for goalkeepers it seems to be totally different except of recent where we are witnessing  goalkeepers like David De Gea 26, Thibaut Courtois 24, Marc-Andre ter Stegen 24 and 17-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma enjoying their careers despite being young. But for many years we have watched 30 and above goalkeepers topping the charts. The likes of; Jens Lehmann, Edwin Van der Sar and Gianluigi Buffon who is up to now on the top despite him threatening to approach 40-years.

In one of the recent interviews, Onyango, seemed positive revealing it is his dream to make it up to that level. After bagging the trophies, and awards, the spotlight will be on him at the AFCON as big clubs could be on look out for such a gem.

Onyango  begun his senior club career at SC Villa in 2004, due to his magnificent performances at the club, in 2005 he joined South Africa based club St George. For his 12-years in South Africa, Onyango has encountered numerous night mares until the victories he is attaining of recent. Onyango first became a journey goalie in SA as he first played for two more clubs; Suspersport United and Mpumalanga Black Aces before he committed himself to Mamelodi Sundowns though as a third choice goalkeeper behind two SA born keepers Calvin Marlin and Wayne Sandilands.

Due to his work hard and determination, Onyango started beating the odds and winning the hearts of coaches at the club. Good enough the aging first choice goalkeeper Calvin Marlin left the club in 2013 which created a relief to Onyango and Sandilands. However, in the same year Mamelodi signed Zambian goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene. Some fans had written him off but he proved them wrong and is  the number one choice.
