Three Victoria University academic staff promoted to Professor, one ranks among the youngest Vice-Chancellors in the world

Fast-rising learning institution, Victoria University has promoted three senior academic staff to professor and associate professor levels. Krishna N. Sharma, the University Vice Chancellor (one of the youngest VCs in the world) is among the promoted staff as he is now an associate professor. Stephen Lawoko and Omotayo Adegbuyi are the others who have now attained the title of a professor.

About Dr. Sharma, he began his career as an academic in Mau in 2005 and has so far written more than 100 books on medical and health sciences, music and literature. In 2007, Mr. Sharma started as an Assistant Lecturer and shortly went on to become Vice Principal at JeevanJyoti Institute of Medical Sciences, Allahabad, India. Then he joined St.Louis University in Cameroon as a Dean. While at Victoria University, he started as Dean at the Faculty of Health Sciences before he became Vice-Chancellor.

For Prof. Stephen Lawoko, the the Dean of the Faculty Health Sciences at Victoria, is an Old Boy of St. Mary’s College Kisubi and Caltec Academy, where he completed his O and A levels respectively. After high school, he had his higher education in Sweden beginning in 1989. He completed an MSc. in Statistics at Linkoping University, and a PhD and Associate Professorship in Public Health at the world re-known Karolinska Institute, where he served for 13 years. He has published more than 65 research papers in world-class research journals.

And Prof. Omotayo, a Nigerian-born, started his educational career at Enugu State University of Technology in Nigeria where he studied and attained his first degree in marketing. After years in formal business employment, he got an appointment to Covenant University, also a private university, as an Assistant Lecturer. He attained his Ph.D. in 2011, and eight years later, he is now a professor in his field.
