The High Court of Kampala has nullified Uganda Police orders of stopping singer Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine from staging concerts.

In the ruling by Justice Esta Nambayo, the orders of stopping events managers Bajjo and Abitex promotions from organising the Kyarenga extra concerts which were to be held at One Love Beach Busabaala, Lira, Gulu, and Arua “are illegal.”

Last year, Abitex Productions, and Bajjo Events and Marketing Agency Limited sued the Attorney General (AG) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) over Police’s decision to indefinitely stop the ‘Kyarenga’ extra concerts.

In their lawsuit filed before the High Court, the promoters stated that the IGP’s decision stopping them from organising ‘Kyarenga’ extra concerts in the above-mentioned districts were made in violation of their right to a fair hearing guaranteed under Article 28, 42 and 44 of the constitution.

Through their lawyer Abubaker Ssekajako, the music promoters contended that the Police directives were illegal, irrational, and an abuse of the powers of their offices.
