Parliament yesterday passed the new revised Electoral Roadmap which was recently issued by the independent Electoral Commission that will see the campaigns organized virtually.

Prominent feminist and former Ethics minister Miria Matembe has said that it’s not a surprise that parliament okayed the controversial road. She said Museveni can always get what he wants especially if it helps him to stay in power.

“I told Ugandans that this is the best time President Museveni will get through these elections very well. It’s the best opportunity he has had,” Miria Matembe said.

“A political party is supposed to be separate from the State but in Uganda, the political party is the State,” she added.

The current affairs commentator has therefore has advised that its better for government to channel election money to other useful ventures especially since Ugandans are struggling to survive in these COVID-19 times.

“The money to be injected in elections should be loaned to us for our small businesses so that we can bring back the economy because these elections are not going to deliver any difference for Ugandans,” Matembe said.
