Former Forum for Democratic Change President Dr Kizza Besigye has highly praised Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago for his constituency and clarity in his political pursuits.

Besigye said Lukwago is clear on what the struggle is and he commits unwaveringly to it. According to the four-time presidential candidates, Lukwago has all what it takes to occupy the country’s top office.

“Erias Lukwago could make a good president for this country Uganda. But that is not the issue at hand. The issue at hand is to get what to lead. He is focused to get what to lead.

Erias Lukwago has been in Kampala fighting for ordinary people. People being thrown out of markets and chased off the streets. We like those attributes in the leadership of the FDC,” Besigye said.

Besigye’s revelations come at a time when reports from the FDC camp indicate that the country’s strongest opposition party might opt to front Lukwago in the forthcoming presidential elections.

However, Besigye said there plans are beyond participating in the elections.

“We do not need an election in order to get freedom. The strategy must be to prepare ourselves to fight for our country with or without an election,” Besigye said.

“Nobody has ever become free for free. You have to fight for it. There is no other option. We do not have the option of giving up this fight to liberate our country. It is ours and the only one we will have. The country was hijacked from us by force,” he added.
