NRM CEC election results: Kadaga, Oulanyah, Mukula, Kiwanda in jubilation

The ruling National Resistance Movement Party yesterday went to the polls to determine who will fill their nine top party positions for the next five years.

Without a doubt incumbents felt the heat but some managed to retain their positions while others were sent packing. The elections around the country went ahead without much violate incidents however there were allegations of voter bribery and other irregularities in some areas.

President Yoweri Museveni and Al hajji Moses Kigongo were unopposed for the positions of National Chairperson and First Vice National chairperson respectively.

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga faced a very tough battle against her nemesis and State minister for Lands Persis Namuganza for the position of the Second Vice National chairperson Female. In the end, Kadaga had garnered 6,776 votes against Namuganza’s 3943 votes, a difference of 2833 votes.

Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah easily ousted incumbent Sam Engola for the position of Vice Chairperson, Northern as he gather 7474 votes against Engola’s 1665 votes. Similarly Minister
Chris Baryomunsi defeated bush war General Matayo Kyaligonza for the position of Vice Chairperson, Western. Baryomunsi collected 5947 votes while Kyaligonza got 2550 votes.

Mike Mukula endured stiff competition from Sanjay Tana but managed to retain his Vice Chairperson Eastern region position. He won by 5818 votes against Tana’s 4162 votes.
