Dr Ekwaro Obuku, the former President of the Uganda Medical Association (UMA) has formally announced bid for Workers Representative in the 11th Parliament.

Obuku who came to the limelight in 2017 as he spearheaded a series of medical workers’ strikes says he’s contesting on an independent ticket. He explains that contesting as independent will help him serve all workers regardless of the political parties they subscribe to.

“After coming into discussions with opinion leaders, supporters and political strategists from both ruling party and the opposition, the consensus is that I will stand as Workers Representative for the 2021 General Election,” Obuku says.
