Last week the ruling party National Resistance Movement (NRM) held it’s primaries across the country in a bid to elect their parliamentary flag bearers in the different districts.

The elections in most areas districts were marred with chaos, violence, death and irregularities.

The Nakifuma County defeated aspirant Jackson Ntwatwa has dragged the party chairman Museveni to court for issuing a directive that allowed unregistered party members to vote.

In the suit filed, Ntwatwa said that the directive was the genesis of the irregularities.

“A declaration that the directive of the 1st respondent (President Museveni) to allow persons with national IDs to vote in the party primaries even if not a registered was illegal contrary to the constitution of the National Resistance Movement,” reads Ntwatwa’s petition

The discontent Ntwatwa also sued the party Electoral Commission for changing the polling date from September 10 to September 4 without notifying all candidates and voters.

“My agents were caned and disappeared from polling stations and the crooks took adavantage of disorganising the entire election in absence of my agents save from kalagi polling station where I voted from, said Ntwatwa.

Ntwatwa asked court to quash the NRM primaries and order the party to carry out the primaries again.
