Controversial political and security commentator, Charles Rwomushana has disclosed that government has frustrated his 2021 presidential ambitions. Rwomushana says the regime is hiding behind the COVID-19 pandemic to upset political preparations of its opponents.

Months ago, the former head of political intelligence at State House declared his intentions to stand for President. He went ahead to pick nomination forms from the Electoral Committee. Currently he has been in the process of mobilising signatures for his nomination.

Rwomushana says though he rejects the view that President Museveni can be won through his ‘silly election,’ the country decides to participate because many earn a living out of it.

“The only reason we should participate is that in it there are jobs,” says Rwomushana.

Rwomushana says Museveni is intentionally wiping out credible politicians and promoting ‘political comedians.’

“What we have now is ‘silly’ politics. We people who say they are going to Parliament to eat,” he says.

He explains that even the National Unity Platform party that’s tipped by many to give Museveni a stiff run for his money in the forthcoming elections, Rwomushana claims that it’s managed by NRM allies.
