Uganda’s strongest opposition party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has announced party president, Patrick Amuriat Oboi as their Presidential flag bearer for the 2021 general elections.

This was after Ambassador Wasswa Biriggwa pulled out of the race to carry party flag today on the day of voting at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi.

“I am allowing Patrick Amuriat Oboi to carry on this. I have found him strong and he is going to give President Yoweri Museveni a run for his money,” said Biriggwa as he revealed that he’s now going to concentrate on unifying the party and political actors from other parties.

While giving his speech, Amuriat applauded Birigwa’s undying love for the party. He promised him a big position in government once he wins Museveni in the forthcoming election.

“When I become the president next year, he will be my deputy president and this is serious. It’s not a joke,” Amuriat said.

Besides incumbent President Museveni, Amuriat has joined a pool of other candidates vying for the country’s top office, these include; Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde, Maureen Kyalya, Charles Rwumushana, Joseph Kabuleta and Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu, among others.
